A reminder that asexuality is not some “internet fad”, it’s a distinct sexual orientation that has been recorded in scientific literature since 1948. The internet just allows a geographically scattered group of people to find each other more easily. People making these things never mention my asexuality essay being around long before most of this stuff.  (I posted it and got feedback from readers starting in 1998.  I wasn’t trying to make a community or organize or anything, but my Asexuality Top Ten predated AVEN.)  It’s weird because most of the people I talk to in the asexuality community have been aware of me and my awareness stuff for a very long time, but in roundups like this nobody remembers me.  I’m not particularly grumpy about it, but it makes me question stuff.
